Awakening: The Dreamless Castle

“Awakening” is an apt title for this game in that you play the main character, Sophia, who has been asleep for 100 years and has no idea why she was slumbering or what she is to do next. Thank goodness there is a helpful fairy to guide her along the way! Unlike some other games involving fairies, princesses and castles, the voice-acting in this game is top notch. The helpful fairy acts as your "hint" mechanism whenever you get stuck. I found myself asking for her assistance several times throughout the game. Hints are endless, but you do have to wait for them to refill. Frequently, I stopped in a room where I thought I had uncovered everything only to click on the fairy to find what I had forgotten or not seen on previous visits.

The graphics are well done; nothing cutting edge here, but nicely rendered, and it's good to get away from all the dark games that have come out lately. There are no dismembered limbs or any gruesome scenes, so this one is suitable for everyone in the family.
Listen to your fairy friend as she guides you towards the exit. Play fun minigames and solve clever locks to make it to the next room in the castle. Use your Hidden Object skills to search for the next hint and discover a young Princess’ destiny in Awakening: The Dreamless Castle.
