Walkthrough - Introduction

• If you are playing in Normal Mode, a box appears telling you important areas are highlighted and you will notice the carriage is highlighted (circled in shimmery lights). The carriage is not highlighted in Expert Mode. Both modes have instructions located at the top of the scene (under the chapter name). You are told to find the diary.
• If you hover your mouse over the carriage, an eye appears.

• The eye cursor indicates a hidden object hunt that needs to be completed. Click on the carriage.
• A hidden object hunt starts.

• Find all the listed items. The diary is added to your inventory. Click the checkmark to close the window. Note: this instruction will not be given again in this walkthrough.
• The instructions at the top of the scene tell you to get the letter from your trunk.

o If you are playing in Normal Mode, running your cursor over the trunk (or waiting) will result in a highlighted mirror.

o If you are playing in Expert Mode, hovering your mouse over the trunk will change the cursor to an open hand.

• Click on the trunk. To get the combination, click on the diary.

o To close the diary, click the X at the top right of the screen.

• The combination is 379. Use the up and down arrows to set the combination.

• Take the letter.

• Enter the house

• After talking to Mr. Connelly, click on the table.

• Place the letter on the silver tray. Take note of the keys.
• You are then told to go to your bedroom. At this point in the game, you can only go where you are told. Eventually you will be able to explore a little more. The screenshot below indicates the major rooms in the house:

• Please refer to this screenshot as the walkthrough will just state, “go to the library.”
• Go upstairs to Florence’s bedroom.

• The instructions tell you to find a hairpin, comb and face powder.
• Take the hairpin from the bed.

o Note: Notice when you hover your mouse over the hairpin, its name appears above the inventory item list. This happens for all inventory items, regardless of what difficulty setting you are playing.

• Enter the bathroom (arrow in the screenshot above).

• Take the face powder from the vanity table. Click on the closet (far right).

• Take the comb. Go back into the bedroom.

• Click on the wall mirror.

• First use the comb on Florence’s hair, then add the hairpin. Use the face powder on her face. A message begins to appear. Continue using the face powder (about four clicks) until a message fully appears.
